Des Moines Home Sales Fall 22% in July

A friend sent me this article today that she caught on the Wealth with Mortgage Blog. The article discusses his opinion of why sales are down, where he believes even more concern is come and what advice he has for sellers, buyers and realtors.  His biggest concern is:

“Moving forward, home buyers will be required to bring in 3%-5% as a down payment.  Yes, there are exceptions, but Des Moines has very few of them.  With that said, the number of qualified home buyers is slowly shrinking.  I personally think that these numbers will look much less sexy come the next few months.

Give it time, but the qualified buyer pool is shrinking.”

For those of you that are in the downtown condo market, I would like to introduce a new tool that I recently developed and posted on our Downtown Real Estate page. It’s basically a Google mashup map of the downtown 50309 area that shows the location information of most every condo/loft complex that exists downtown. The map is interactive for scrolling, zooming and clicking, and on the right side is a scrollable list of each of properties.
Orange colored ballon markers indicate condo/loft properties and red colored ballon markers indicates rental apartment units. When clicking on a particular property, you will generally find the property name, address, contact phone number and link to the appropriate website. If you prefer a larger map, there’s also a link for a full page tool to use. I’ve also included a link to download the file for use with the full Google Earth desktop location.

Thanks for the link-back! I really appreciate it.

Your Google mash-up is an extremely cool tool! What a handy set of information. You’re my new favorite downtown resource. Let me know if there’s anything I can help you out with in the future! You’re doing a great job with this site. I think this is a super-handy resource.
